A whole pint of ice cream with 37 grams of protein is why the Ninja Creami became so popular with high-protein eaters. This Ninja Creami protein ice cream recipe uses ingredients you probably have: milk, vanilla protein, a spoonful of pudding mix and a little maple syrup.

The role of each ingredient

  • Protein powder: protein and sweetness, plus body.
  • Pudding mix: acts as a stabilizer so the ice cream comes out smooth instead of icy.
  • Maple syrup: a small amount of sugar keeps the texture softer.

Flavor ideas

  • Chocolate peanut butter: chocolate protein, chocolate pudding mix and 1 tbsp powdered peanut butter.
  • Cookies and cream: vanilla base with one crushed chocolate sandwich cookie as a mix-in.
  • Strawberry cheesecake: add 1/4 cup cottage cheese to the base and mix in crushed graham cracker and strawberries.

No machine? Try cottage cheese ice cream, which only needs a blender and a freezer.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Blend or shake all the ingredients until completely smooth.
  2. Pour into a Ninja Creami pint container up to the max fill line. Put the lid on and freeze on a level surface for 24 hours.
  3. Remove the lid, place the pint in the outer bowl and run the Lite Ice Cream program.
  4. If it looks powdery, add 1 to 2 tbsp milk and run Re-spin. Repeat once if needed.
  5. Add mix-ins with the Mix-In program if you like, and eat right away.

Notes

  • Powdery after the first spin is normal for low-fat bases. A splash of milk and a re-spin makes it creamy.
  • The pudding mix keeps it smooth and scoopable. Without it, expect a more icy texture.
  • Mix-ins are not included in the nutrition.

    Questions people ask

Why is my Ninja Creami protein ice cream crumbly?

Low-fat bases freeze very hard. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk and use Re-spin until it turns creamy.

Can I eat half and refreeze the rest?

Yes. Flatten the top, freeze again, and re-spin before eating. The second spin is usually even creamier.
